this may be just a quick fix but have been dealing with the pain of peripheral neuropathy for a couple years, getting worse after being on daily 100 thalomide. but for 2 weeks so for suprisingly the pain seems to be gone.was bitten on top of right foot by rattlesnake two weeks ago and spent 3 days in the hospital , it wasnt as severe a bite as some but still the anti venom was administered by iv, 6 times every 6 hours swelling still comes back at the end of the day and a little pain remains but, even my other foot seems to be absent from the peripheral neuropathy so i dont know if there is anything about the treatment but i thought it was certainly interesting and wanted to share .
i think it is humorous but who knows
will keep you posted

Re: peripheral neuropathy relief: snake anti-venom?
Hi Jay,
That's a really interesting story. But it makes you wonder. Was it the anti-venom that may have helped your peripheral neuropathy, or was it the snake venom?
For what it's worth, this product seems to be the most typical snake anti-venom used in the United States:

Do you know if it's the anti-venom that you received?

Hey Chuck
Yes it was Crofab. I have no idea what to attribute the relief of neuropathy to. The crofab or the venom. I will discuss this with my Dr. (Surgeon for the snake bite on the 26th of July) and let you know what he thinks.

Hi Jay,
So it was Crofab, eh. Well let us know what your doctor told you when you get a chance.
My bet is that the venom may have been what helped your PN, rather than the anti-venom. If I'm not mistaken, it wouldn't be the first time that animal poison has been found to be medically useful.
